Watermelon ABC Matching Activity - Put together the watermelon sides to correctly to match up the uppercase and lowercase letters. After making all of the matches, record the matches on the recording sheet.
Watermelon Beginning Sound Puzzle s - Match the letter half of the watermelon with the half that has the picture that begins with that letter. After matching up all 26 watermelons, use the recording sheet to write down the letters while practicing beginning sound skills.
Watermelon Letter Mazes- Children can use markers (mini erasers, buttons, pom poms, etc.) to mark the path from start to stop with only pictures that represent that letter sound /w/. Control charts are provided for children who need more help (or if certain images are unfamiliar to the child.) After the activity use the record sheet to colour the letter/w/ maze.
Watermelon Puzzle- Print and cut on the indented line of the picture. Spread them out on the table and ask children to solve the puzzle. After solving the puzzle use the record sheet to find and colour the letter “w”.
Watermelon -at words activity- Children will select a flashcard, say the word, then built the word with seed cards on the watermelon mat and then write the word on the mat.
Watermelon pre-writing activity- Five pre-writing activities to improve fine motor skills and letter recognition.
